The Harry Allen & Grant Stewart Quintet, Tuesday, April 4, 2017, 7:00 to 9:30 p.m. at The Vero Beach Heritage Center, 2140 14th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960 (Note change of day of the week and evening concert instead of afternoon)

The tenor saxophone duet is a classic jazz format and requires that both performers have complementary styles.  Harry and Grant both love the old tunes and play them with enthusiasm and a fresh sophistication.  With this duo we have two of the finest players of swing tenor alive today.

Harry Allen has been described buy C. Michael Bailey as the "Frank Sinatra of the tenor saxophone".  Harry is an old schooler, who is a master interpreter of Jazz Standards with over thirty recording to his name.  Harry was nominated for Best Jazz Combo by the Jazz Journalists Association.

Toronto native Grant Stewart is a hard-swinging tenor saxophonist steeped in the jazz tradition.  His big burly sound and commanding sense of swing, lend itself well to his love of the Great American Songbook.  Stewart has released sixteen recordings as a leader and has appeared on many other recordings as a sideman.
